Every Wednesday, Peter heads into our warehouse to pick up the 2-3 pallets of raw ingredients dropped off by United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI). You see, UNFI trucks could never come out to these back roads! Then he unloads them with the tractor and packs it into the bakery to make Back Roads Granola for all of you! That right there is about 700lbs of organic oats, countless boxes of organic nuts, raisins, and so much more!

Fall is one of our absolute favorite times of year here in Vermont. We’ve been enjoying lots of beautiful days, wood fires on cool nights, breathtaking views of our ever changing hills, time with family, and so much more. One of the highlights was driving up north this past weekend for the Smuggler’s Notch Wine and Food Festival that featured venders from throughout Vermont – including Back Roads Granola, of course!

This past weekend Virginia and Coral traveled to New York for work and of course to visit with daughter/sister, Liv and Granddaughters/nieces, Maia and Sophie.
We had a blast demoing at Commodities Natural Market, Battery Place Market, and lastly at the Brooklyn Harvest Market in Williamsburg, Brooklyn — such a happening hood! We love that more and more markets in New York are picking up the granola, and doing really well with it.
And of course, when we get a chance to get some work accomplished while spending lots of quality time with the family, that’s what we would call priceless! Next weekend we’re off to Boston, so keep an eye out for a list of our upcoming demos.

On Saturday, Aug. 24, Peter attended the Atkins Farms 25th Annual New England Tasting and Beverage Fair. Dozens of area venders were on hand to sample lots of yummy specialty foods and local beer and wine. Producers provided free samples, information, recipes, and even cooking tips for the many attendees.
Atkin’s Farms first started carrying Back Roads Granola in early 2011 and now carries all three varieties in their Amherst store, where they have been for over 40 years! Read more about their long history here: http://www.atkinsfarms.com/
On Friday, August 2, Peter had a great demo at Hunger Mountain Coop where he gave out samples of all three organic granolas.
Peter’s first priority with Back Roads Granola has always been to make a healthy and delicious product from the best possible ingredients – and he loves the chance to talk to customers about it.
