We’re thrilled to share that in January we started selling our product line at the Whole Foods Market in Hadley, MA. Their awesome Local Forager discovered our product and has been instrumental in bringing us in and helping us get going. We’ve gone for three demos including the “Local Producers” event yesterday. We met and spoke with so many wonderful shoppers that we hope will become loyal Back Roads Granola customers!
Our certified organic line of granola is in hundreds of food coops and specialty food stores across the country, including Erewhon Natural Foods in California! In many of these stores we’re currently on a deep discount, so be sure to check your local coop and take advantage of these great sales. Also, if you have a store that you think we should be in, please contact us and let us know! It always helps to request it with a comment card!
Here in Vermont, the snow started late last night and is expected to continue into this evening. When it’s all done we’re expecting 1 – 1 ½ feet of beautiful, fluffy snow. The good news is that despite the weather the granola is still being made!
Will, one of the bakers here at Back Roads had to back his vehicle up our 800 ft driveway just to get here, but he made it and is baking almost 250 lbs of granola this morning!

Just two days after getting 12’’ of snow, yesterday brought another 6 to us here in Vermont. The snow is fluffy and sparkling, the sky is a perfect blue, the animals are happy, and decorations are hung. The granola is in the oven, filling the air with the most delicious smells of maple and honey, sweet oats, nuts and seeds. Happy Holidays to all!

Every Wednesday, Peter heads into our warehouse to pick up the 2-3 pallets of raw ingredients dropped off by United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI). You see, UNFI trucks could never come out to these back roads! Then he unloads them with the tractor and packs it into the bakery to make Back Roads Granola for all of you! That right there is about 700lbs of organic oats, countless boxes of organic nuts, raisins, and so much more!

Fall is one of our absolute favorite times of year here in Vermont. We’ve been enjoying lots of beautiful days, wood fires on cool nights, breathtaking views of our ever changing hills, time with family, and so much more. One of the highlights was driving up north this past weekend for the Smuggler’s Notch Wine and Food Festival that featured venders from throughout Vermont – including Back Roads Granola, of course!
